SUBSTANCE: disclosed is a method of obtaining a region for characterizing an analytic plate for characterizing a population of a microorganism in the presence of an antimicrobial agent by MALDI, a method of characterizing a microorganism population (versions), an analytical plate and a device for characterizing a microorganism population which is said plate. Method of obtaining a characterization zone involves providing an analytical plate with an antimicrobial agent-containing zone, applying a microorganism population thereon, incubating and applying a matrix suitable for the MALDI method to said zone. Method for characterizing a population of a microorganism in one embodiment comprises preparing a characterization zone and verifying the presence of the antimicrobial agent and/or the antimicrobial agent degradation product using MALDI-TOF, and in another version includes a first analysis of the characterization zone using the MALDI method to identify a family, genus or species of the microorganism population and a second analysis of the MALDI characterization zone to determine the presence of a population of the antimicrobial agent-resistant microorganism. First analysis and the second analysis are carried out using separate first and second ionisation stages of the same characterization zone. Analytical plate comprises an antimicrobial agent applied in the form of a solid layer on the analytical zone.

EFFECT: inventions provide an easy-to-implement method of obtaining a region for characterizing a microorganism on an analytical plate for identifying its resistance to the antibiotic and identifying the microorganism itself using the MALDI technique.
