FIELD: machine building.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to railway transport. Railway vehicle comprises electric drive with power semiconductor devices and braking system operating on compressed air. Power semiconductor devices are located in the housing. Railway vehicle additionally comprises expansion device. Housing and braking system are connected to each other so that compressed air from brake system can be supplied inside housing. Expansion device is located between housing and braking system so that compressed air supplied into housing before supply into housing can be expanded. Method of rail vehicle operation consists in that compressed air is supplied from brake system into housing, and at which compressed air supplied to housing before supply into housing is expanded by means of expansion device.
EFFECT: higher reliability of rail vehicle operation.
