FIELD: fire safety.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to fire safety: to investigation of combustion parameters of solid substances, construction materials and wooden structures, in particular to determination of rate of charring of wooden compressed elements in fire conditions in a building. Disclosed is a method of testing a wooden compressed element without fire exposure by nondestructive methods on a complex of unit quality factors of a wooden compressed element. For this purpose position of wooden compressed element in building space is determined, geometrical sizes of wooden compressed element, conditions of burning of dangerous section of wooden compressed element in conditions of fire, critical thickness of carbonization layer, average density, strength and moisture of wood in natural state. Required value of the rate of carbonization of the section of a wooden compressed element is determined from an analytical equation. Description of burning process of wooden compressed element in fire conditions for assessment of charring speed of critical section is represented by mathematical relationship, which takes into account the position of heated faces of the wooden compressed element in the building space, massiveness of the cross-section, actual moisture content, average density and strength of the wood for compression.

EFFECT: possibility of determining the charring speed of a wooden compressed element without fire tests, high reliability of quality control of construction timber, wooden compressed structural elements and nondestructive tests.
