FIELD: test equipment.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to experimental studies of the effect of ice on marine structures, concerns the provision of laboratory sea-ice samples preparation and testing and solves the task of providing significant reduction of labor and energy costs when preparing medium-sized samples of laboratory sea ice and conducting a series of its experimental studies and criteria of destruction. For this purpose, in the device for preparation of medium-scale samples of laboratory sea ice and conducting a series of experimental studies of its properties and criteria of destruction, including a closed room with a reservoir located in it, filled with sea water, which is frozen for ice preparation, and equipped with a cooling and ventilation system and a fine spraying nozzle connected to the fresh water source, providing adjustment of ice crystallization nuclei size, according to the invention, the reservoir for filling with sea water is made in the form of a reservoir made of stainless steel elongated mainly rectangular in the plan view, the length and width of which are determined by the transverse size and the required quantity of ice medium-scale samples, extracted from sea ice prepared in vessel under conditions of distribution of samples on tank surface so that distance from tank side to central axis of extracted sea ice samples, as well as between central axes of sea ice samples themselves is at least two transverse dimensions of sample. Height of the reservoir should be such that the water is filled with water at a depth which is 2 times greater than the thickness of the ice frozen in it. At the same time along the long side the reservoir is divided by a vertical partition fixed on its sides into two sections at ratio of 4:1, the larger of which is intended for freezing of laboratory ice, and smaller – for filling it with water to compensate for pressure during freezing of ice and preventing occurrence of internal stresses in ice. At that, the vertical partition is installed so that in the upper part of the reservoir there provided is non-transfer of water from the large section into the small one, and in the lower part – there was a gap between the lower end of the partition and the tank bottom, which is necessary for free movement of water between the sections. Surface of the reservoir, including the upper horizontal surface of the small section, is covered on the outer side with a heat-insulating layer of heat-insulating material located at distance from the walls of the reservoir by value from 5 to 10 cm, in the lumen between which a heating cable is laid. Besides, the heating cable is laid in the form of a snake or a spiral. Experience of using the proposed device for ensuring the performance of tests of medium-scale samples of laboratory sea ice has confirmed the expected characteristics and physical and mechanical properties of freezing ice, as well as suitability for analyzing strength properties and criteria of destruction.
EFFECT: disclosed is a device for providing testing of medium-sized samples of laboratory sea ice in an ice basin.
