DEVICE FOR PREPARATION OF ICE SPECIMENS IN ICE SHEET HOLE Russian patent published in 1997 - IPC

FIELD: ice technology and hydrometeorology; preparation of ice specimens for strength tests in the field and in laboratories. SUBSTANCE: device has support part 6 on which wind cooler is mounted. Wind cooler is made in form of turned over truncated pyramid and is secured on beams of support part by four curved rods some of which serving as guides, are secured on ribs of truncated pyramid and the other, provided with thread are connected to beams of support part provided with clamps for lifting the ring with ice specimen from hole. Layer of polymeric film folded in two is connected to bevelled side outer surface of ring. Bent of film is placed in water, and free ends are in air. Regulator is placed in ring slot by means of thick thickness of built up ice layer is regulated. Regulator is made in form of V-shaped transparent tube. Shorter part of tube is filled with water and longer part, with non-freezing liquid, for instance, kerosene on surface of which float with electric contact and wire is located. Cover closing longer part has screw with electric contact and wire. Wires are laid to signalling device, for instance, sound signal. EFFECT: enlarged operating capabilities. 3 cl, 3 dwg
