SUBSTANCE: invention relates to petroleum refining processes. Method of producing a component for drilling mud from oil includes distillation of oil with separation of a fraction of diesel fuel, black oil, catalytic hydrofining of a fraction of diesel fuel, wherein the hydrotreated fraction of diesel fuel is directed to isodeparaffinization carried out at pressure of 41–43 atm., the formed process product is fed for fractionation and a fraction boiling in range of 160–360 °C is collected.

EFFECT: increased output of end product with simultaneous cost-cutting of production.
