FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to production of spherical metal powders, which can be used for additive technologies. Method includes heating of side surface of rotating cylindrical billet in vacuum to melting temperature by means of electron beam, spraying of melt drops due to centrifugal forces and their cooling in flight. During billet heating, electron beam is moved along generatrix of cylindrical billet. Spraying of melt drops is performed from side surface of rotating cylindrical billet, at that, billet rotation frequency is controlled depending on 1/√R and electron beam power is simultaneously varied depending on √R, where R is billet radius at heating point. An apparatus for implementing the above method is also disclosed.
EFFECT: obtaining spherical particles of metal powder, including refractory metals and alloys, with low dispersion, suitable for use in additive technologies.
