FIELD: metallurgy.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the production of titanium carbide-containing titanium microspheres. Surface of the titanium billet is treated with laser radiation. Titanium plate is used as the titanium billet. Surface treatment is carried out under a layer of liquid hydrocarbon in a volume of femtosecond scanning laser radiation of the near infrared range, isolated from atmospheric air, with a power density of about 1016–1017 W/m2 with the coagulation of the products of ablation in the microspheres.

EFFECT: resulting microspheres have a spherical shape, a smooth surface and contain nanoscale titanium carbide crystallites.
