FIELD: agriculture.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to soil science and can be used in designing artificial bases of foundations of buildings and structures from bulk clay soil. To this end, soil characteristics are determined from deformation measurement data. Method consists in multi-cycle loading-unloading of several samples of the same soil with different humidity in rigid cylindrical chamber by one constant stage of static pressure, initial value of which is matched with the pressure on the construction site from the transport mechanisms, and the final value is matched with the sealing pressure at the construction site, recording in each loading-unloading cycle of each soil sample of its vertical deformation after loading and vertical expansion after unloading with error of 0.01 mm. To determine the end of multi-cycle loading-unloading of the sample, the coefficient of elastic soil operation is used and stability of its values is evaluated in last 6 cycles as per coefficient of variation. In addition to soil characteristics determined by known methods, volumetric content of mineral particles in soil, as well as volume content of elastically deformable water is calculated. Last index is constant for the given soil and can serve as a measure of its clay content or its characteristic moisture content.
EFFECT: invention provides higher authenticity and reliability of obtained results.
