SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to urology and radiation diagnostics, and can be used for the purpose of diagnosing the length of spongiofibrosis with urethral strictures. Optical coherent tomography of the lower urinary tract and surrounding tissues is performed in the patient's prone position. Sexual member is placed in an elongated position. Previously, gel of "Cathejell" type is introduced into urethra. Tomography sensor used to visualize the coronary arteries is gradually introduced through an external hole of the urethra to the inside. Urethra is scanned with the study fixed to an electronic carrier. Video image of the scanned part of the urethra is obtained in the frontal plane, as well as in a longitudinal plane. Extracting the sensor to the outside, if a modified structure of the urethra differs from the normal tissue, the mark of the beginning of spongiofibrosis is marked on the sensor, and if the normal urethral tissue appears, the mark of the end of spongiofibrosis is marked on the sensor. Distance between the marks on the sensor is equal to the length of urethral stricture.
