SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a combination of an element containing a smoking material, with a device for evaporation of at least one component of smoking material and to a smoking material heating method. Combination includes an element comprising a smoking material and a device for evaporation of at least one smoking material component, in which said element is configured to be connected to the device and disconnected from the device; smoking material is a layer on at least one surface of the element; device comprises a radiation source serving to generate radiation; element and device are located relative to each other so that radiation source and smoking material overlap in radial direction of device when element is connected to device; radiation source is configured to generate radiation in the radial direction of the device such that the radiation affects the smoking material on at least one surface of the element in order to evaporate at least one component of the smoking material; and when the element is connected to the device, the radiation source and the smoking material can move relative to each other so that radiation generated by the radiation source can be selectively directed to different parts of the smoking material on at least one surface of the element, wherein the combination further comprises a moving device for moving the radiation source relative to the smoking material in order to selectively direct radiation generated by the radiation source during use to different parts of the smoking material of the element.
