FIELD: technological processes.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for hydrometallurgical extraction of gold from gold-bearing material by iodine iodide leaching and can be used for processing of refractory gold-bearing material. Method involves preliminary preparation of the raw material and subsequent leaching with iodine-iodide solution, separation from cake, extraction of gold from the productive solution using products of cathodic electrochemical reactions and subsequent regeneration of the degolded iodide solution in the anode chamber of the electrolysis cell. Preliminary preparation of raw material involves successive stages of mechanical processing, thermal treatment and chemical treatment. Gold leaching is carried out with an iodine-iodide solution which is synthesized from an aqueous solution of potassium iodide in the anode chamber of a flow electrochemical reactor with current density of 2,000 A/m2 and pressure of 2 bar. Cake obtained after separation from the productive solution is washed with water to extract trapped iodine and iodides, and extraction of gold from the productive solution is carried out using a concentrated solution of potassium hydroxide synthesized in a cathode chamber of an electrochemical reactor.

EFFECT: method provides processing gold-containing support material with high extraction of gold from 84 to 98 % with reduced loss of iodine and high environmental friendliness of the process.
