SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods of operation and determination of rolling mill operation parameters. Method includes stages of preliminary adjustment, control of operation and adjustment of rolling mill settings, in which primary training of multiple neural networks, each of which corresponds to its steel grade or group of steel grades and its desired parameter, for each desired parameter, selecting an optimal set of initial parameters for training the corresponding plurality of neural networks containing neural networks with a complete or incomplete set of said initial parameters, and determining the desired parameter during the manufacture of rolled metal, selecting the desired parameter, selecting from a plurality of neural networks corresponding to the existing steel grade or group of steel grades and selected unknown parameter neural network corresponding to the available set of correct initial parameters, and in its absence – a neural network with the closest set of initial parameters, the unknown parameter is calculated if there is no correct measured unknown parameter.

EFFECT: technical result consists in improvement of accuracy of determining a wide range of parameters of rolling mill, reliability of monitoring and control of its operation.
