FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of high-molecular substances, namely to methods of producing carboxymethyl starch and can be used in modern chemical technologies as a thickener, emulsifier, especially in oil and gas industry as an agent for stabilizing drilling fluids. Wave method for producing carboxymethylated starch is carried out by reacting starch with monochloroacetic acid, water and sodium hydroxide in the reaction chamber of the mixer, wherein starch is introduced into the reaction chamber, creating a mode of wave turbulence of the dust-air mixture by rotating the mixing element at a frequency of torsional oscillations of the reaction chamber around its axis of 49.0–51 Hz and angular amplitude of its torsional oscillations of 6–7 mm, followed by successive introduction of water, monochloroacetic acid and sodium hydroxide, wherein after introduction of each component, wave processing is carried out for 1–5 minutes.
EFFECT: total time of preparing carboxymethylated starch by said method is 10–15 minutes, which is more than 4 times shorter than the time of preparing carboxymethylated starch in a known manner, and is a more economical method in terms of power consumption.
