SUBSTANCE: invention relates to communication techniques, in particular to methods for transmitting information over communication links, namely, low-speed data transmission over optical fibers of cable lines. In the simplex method of transmitting data over optical fiber, a double-mode optical fiber is used, at the output of the optical fiber, the average delay time between two spatial guide modes which support the double-mode optical fiber is set in a selected range, after which both modes are fed to the input of the quadratic detector, at the output of which the useful signal is separated, wherein the range of variations of the average delay time between two spatial guided modes, which support a double-mode optical fiber, are pre-selected by varying the average delay time between these modes at the output of the two-mode optical fiber, as the range of variations in the average delay time between these modes at the output of the two-mode optical fiber, in which the signal-to-noise ratio exceeds the given threshold.

EFFECT: technical result consists in expanded field of application.
