SUBSTANCE: invention relates to an optical surveillance system for a vehicle, as well as to a system for replacing mirrors for a vehicle comprising an optical surveillance system. Disclosed optical surveillance system (130) for vehicle (10), comprising gripping device (30), including optical element (301) and image sensor (303) having an image sensor surface (304) and configured to capture a portion of the environment of the vehicle. Optical element (301) has distortion with curve r=f(α) of distortion, wherein r is the distance from the image of the object point displayed on the image sensor surface (304) to the point of intersection of optical axis (302) with the image sensor surface (304), and α is the angle between optical axis (302) of optical element (301) and the incident light from the object point incident on optical element (301). Distortion curve r=f(α) for rw=f(αw) has a point (αw; rw) bending in region 0<r<rmax, for which r''=f'''(αw)=d2r/dα2(αw)=0, where rmax is distance r=f(αmax) on surface (304) of the image sensor from optical axis (302) to the outermost point of the edge/boundary point of surface (304) of the image sensor.
EFFECT: design of a system for replacing mirrors for a vehicle, which includes an optical surveillance system for a vehicle, in which there are complex requirements to the quality and range of said images.
