FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of metallurgical production. Process of making a metal product out of steel or iron alloy is at least partially controlled using a structure model which includes a program which calculates at least one mechanical characteristic of strength of the manufactured product depending on the corresponding process chain based on the calculated metallurgical phase components and/or their respective fractions in the metallurgical structure of the manufactured product, wherein process chain of metallurgical production plant includes rolling mill with final cooling section, and calculation of at least one mechanical strength characteristic is carried out taking into account working parameters taken into account during manufacturing, and affecting at least one obtained mechanical strength characteristic. At that, as working parameters corresponding mass fraction of at least one alloying element, which is available in chemical composition of used steel or iron alloy, is registered, and at least one cooling rate set in the cooling produced after the rolling process. Achieved mechanical characteristic of the strength of the manufactured product is set by setting the cooling rate and the weight ratio of one or more alloying elements in the chemical composition of the steel or iron alloy used depending on this.
EFFECT: use of invention increases specified characteristics of alloy strength.
