FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to ferrous metallurgy, namely to composition of charge for silicocalcium melting, used for deoxidation and modification of steels and alloys, and can be used in metallurgical enterprises to obtain silicocalcium in electrical ore ore-smelting furnaces. Charge contains silicon-containing material and briquettes containing limestone, carbon reducing agent and silicon-containing material, note here that charge components ratio is the following, wt%: silicon-containing material 30–40, limestone 10–30, carbonaceous reducing agent 25–35, silicon-containing material in briquettes 0.1–15.
EFFECT: when using the charge of the claimed composition, duration of continuous operation of the furnace during melting of silicocalcium increases and content of calcium in finished silicocalcium increases.
