FIELD: radar ranging and radio navigation.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to radar location of ocean surface from aircraft and can be used for search and detection of underwater hydrodynamic sources. Proposed method is based on transfer to the sea surface of an impulse generated by internal waves arising in the "density jump" layer, and formation of a "high-speed portrait" of the surface in an interference side-view radar with synthetic aperture (IRSA). Method for identification of moving underwater source uses formation of high-speed image of sea surface in radar of lateral view with real or synthesized aperture. After-period sum-difference method of signal extraction, which is proportional to radial flow velocity, makes it possible to form a velocity-calibrated image with suppression of both amplitude variations of the signal and phase speckle noise on the site of a given size. Secondary processing of the obtained image allows separating the internal waves excited by the underwater source and close to harmonic fields of orbital velocity of wind waves.
EFFECT: on formed image of internal waves it is possible to determine location of underwater source.
