FIELD: applied hydrophysics.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used for remote automatic detection and classification of anomalies on the sea surface associated with interaction of wind waves and areas of non-uniform flow. Summary: method employs a radar station of all-round view, formation of space-time radar images of the sea surface is performed in the entire range of azimuth angles from 0 to 360°, wherein the entire range is divided into sectors and further processing of the received radar signal is performed separately for each sector. Further, performing a windowed Fourier transform in time for the time dependence of the power of the received radar signal from the selected range, at that, calculating the received radar signal power time dependence spectrum current values in the frequency range from 0 to 0.03 Hz and the received radar signal power time dependence spectrum maximum in the same frequency range, calculating the current histograms of these characteristics of the spectrum for a certain period of time and determining the threshold values from the histograms, if exceeded, a decision is made on the presence of an anomaly on the sea surface.
EFFECT: enabling detection of sea surface anomalies caused by processes in near-surface layers of the ocean and atmosphere from its radar images.
