SUBSTANCE: invention relates to mobile communication. Mobile communication system comprises: mobile platform (1) having a plurality of interfaces (2) to a corresponding plurality of mobile communication networks (6) and router (5) for selectively connecting one or more communication devices (4) within mobile platform (1) to one or more interfaces (2) for communication over corresponding mobile communication networks (6); and central core (10) common to each of the mobile communication networks (6), including resource manager (11) configured to allocate communication resources to communication lines (2); wherein resource manager (11) responds to resource requests (S3) from mobile platform (1) and to network state in mobile communication networks (6).

EFFECT: mobile platform is capable of supporting a plurality of discrete communication lines over different networks and/or frequency bands, such as satellite and terrestrial networks.
