FIELD: wireless communications.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the means for providing selectable service offers to users of mobile devices through mobile terminals over a satellite communications system. According to the invention, a database of access profiles is maintained for accessing a network through a wireless communication system. Each access profile corresponds to a service offering from a set of service offerings and is associated with a set of network destinations within the network. In embodiments of the invention, a request for a specific service offering from the plurality of service offerings is received from a device in the collection of devices. An access profile can be identified from a database that is associated with a specific service offering.
EFFECT: efficient use of available radio frequency (RF) spectrum resources in the satellite communication system, reducing the volume of traffic through the satellite communication system.
