For this, when connecting the wireless field device to the wireless communication network of the process, placing a wireless field device within the near field communication range (NFC) from the wireless gateway, creating an interface between the NFC transceiver associated with the wireless gateway and the NFC tag associated with the wireless field device, and forming a near field communication between the wireless gateway and the wireless field device to load the connection key into the wireless field device. Connection key enables the wireless field device to access the wireless communication network of the process and is used to allow the wireless field device to communicate through the wireless communication network of the process.

EFFECT: automatic connection of a field device to a wireless network, which simplifies said connection process.
