SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to a method and a system for monitoring a long-bottom coal cutter in a development system with long working faces, the cutter comprising a tunnelling machine having a knife drum. Method comprises obtaining, by means of a processor, information on a desired angle of inclination for a knife drum, receiving, by means of a processor, an inclination angle indicating the current position of the inclination of the heading machine, determining, by the processor, whether the inclination angle is in the desired inclination angle range, wherein the desired inclination angle range is based on the desired inclination angle information, wherein desirable range of inclination angles includes upper inclination angle threshold and lower inclination angle threshold. Control, by means of processor, blade knife position on the basis of whether inclination angle is within the range of desired inclination angles, wherein the knife blade position control includes changing the blade knife vertical position based on the difference between the inclination angle and at least one selected from the group comprising the upper inclination angle threshold and the lower inclination angle threshold.
EFFECT: technical result consists in improvement of control of heading machine position in development system.
