SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to surgery, and can be used to monitor the position of the puncture needle in the epidural space during the transforaminal epidural block. That is ensured by a transforaminal epidural block under ultrasonic scanning. Needle is inserted from the horizontal access into the space between transverse processes. As points of correct positioning of the puncture needle, visualization of the tubular structure corresponding to the extended radicular nerve after the introduction into the perineural space of the physiological solution and enlarging the posterior epidural space after physiologic saline introduction into it, the width of which is measured in oblique parasagittal scanning at the level of the spinal canal.

EFFECT: method enables using ultrasound to determine accurate echographic criteria of puncture needle penetration into the epidural space.
