FIELD: computer equipment.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to means for determining whether a mark is genuine. Computing device or its logic circuit uses unintentionally produced artifacts in a true mark to determine an identifiable electronic signature, extracts certain signature attributes, such as deviation from the average value for each signature range, and assigns numerical values to the extracted attributes to create a hash identifier which is considerably less than the electronic signature itself. Hash identifier is then used as an index for a database of electronic signatures (authentic marks) to simplify and increase the rate with which multiple authentic signatures (e.g., in a database) can be found and compared with signatures of candidate marks.
EFFECT: technical result consists in improvement of reliability of authentication.
