FIELD: information technology.
SUBSTANCE: contents of the subject and recipient fields of electronic mail messages received in and sent from a computer system are hashed and stored in a database. When an incoming electronic mail message is received in a computer system, contents of its subject and recipient fields are also hashed. The database is then searched to find electronic mail messages, identified in the database, which have the sufficient number of hash values of the subject and address which match the hash values of the subject and address created for the incoming electronic mail message so that the messages can be compared. Comparison is carried out between an incoming electronic mail message and the best matching electronic mail message found when searching the database.
EFFECT: high efficiency of processing electronic mail messages.
