SUBSTANCE: invention relates to means of describing rocks by their image. Essence: image of rocks is obtained. Obtained image is divided into separate segments. For each segment, it is determined to which type of core it relates: to the standard or non-standard, or suitability for analysis of the image in the photo, obtained by downhole image (FMI). Performing automated analysis of rock images using pre-conditioned neural networks and image clustering. Depending on the analysis results, the possibility of determining various characteristics of rocks is evaluated.
EFFECT: technical result is performance of automated description of rocks based on image obtained in different conditions.
