FIELD: optics.
SUBSTANCE: single-mode optical fibre, comprising: a fibre core containing silicon dioxide, at least 1.5 wt. % chlorine and less than 0.6 wt. % F, where said fibre core has a relative refraction index Δ1max, and the optical fibre region surrounding the fibre core has a relative refraction index Δ2min, where Δ1max > Δ2min, and where said fibre has one mode at wavelength of 1550 nm, wherein said region of the optical fibre shell contains fluorine and a molar ratio of chlorine in the fibre core to fluorine in the optical fibre coating greater than 1.
EFFECT: present invention relates to optical fibres having a high level of chlorine dopant in the fibre core.
