FIELD: technological processes.

SUBSTANCE: invention can be used for multielectrode submerged arc welding of butt-end steel sheets with thickness of 15–45 mm. Plurality of welding electrodes are arranged in line in direction of welding. Distance between the electrodes, current density and inclination of the electrodes are set in the preset manner. First electrode is located perpendicular to steel sheet or with inclination when its end is located behind tip of electrode in direction of welding. DC is fed to the first electrode, alternating current is applied to each of the following electrodes.

EFFECT: method provides stable electric arc of corresponding electrodes to produce weld beads with good shape due to suppression of harmful magnetic action, and also increases welding speed and prevents occurrence of welding defects.
