FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of composite material based on Al2O3-TiCN and can be used in tool industry in production of replaceable multi-faceted cutting plates. To produce composite material, method includes preparation of powder mixture of charge consisting of powder α – Al2O3, doped with 0.5–1.0 wt% Y2O3 and 0.1–0.5 wt% MgO, and TiCN powder, with the following ratio of components, wt%: 60–80 α – Al2O3 and 20–40 TiCN. Made from initial Al2O3 and TiCN powders aqueous suspensions with subsequent dispersion. Suspensions are mixed in ball mill. Polyvinyl alcohol is added in 1 wt%, powders are granulated by spraying the finished suspension into liquid nitrogen with subsequent freeze drying. Blanks are formed by method of preliminary axial pressing and final hydrostatic pressing. Aluminum nitride coating on Al2O3 particles is obtained at pressing presses from room temperature to 1,450 °C in nitrogen flow with holding at maximum temperature of 1–4 hours. Composite material is sintered in argon medium at temperature 1,800 °C.
EFFECT: higher bending strength, hardness and crack resistance of composite material.
