FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: method for producing a ceramic composite material based on silicon carbide, reinforced with silicon carbide fibers, includes mixing the initial components such as silicon carbide powder, sintering additive in the form of yttrium-aluminum garnet YAG in a ratio of Y2O3:Al2O3 oxides 3:5 in the amount of 10 pts. wt. % and silicon carbide fibers SiC in the amount ranging from 1 to 10 pts. wt. % in a planetary mill in isopropyl alcohol environment; drying the resulting mixture; adding 3 pts. wt.% of the 10% polyvinylpyrrolidone aqueous solution; forming the blanks by one-way uniaxial pressing in a metal pressing mold at a pressure of 100 MPa and firing using a hot-pressing technique in an argon environment at a temperature of 1850°C with a maximum specific pressure of 30 MPa. As fibers of silicon carbide SiC, fibers obtained by siliconizing carbon fabric with SiO vapor are used. As a silicon carbide powder, a submicron silicon carbide powder with a dimension of 100-400 nm with a spherical shape of particles, obtained by the method of self-propagating high-temperature synthesis, is used.
EFFECT: increased strength characteristics of ceramics based on silicon carbide and increased flexing strength and crack resistance, as well as low density.
