SUBSTANCE: disclosed is a vacuum cleaner comprising a vacuum cleaner body, comprising a moving device for movement, a suction device connected to the vacuum cleaner body, to suck dust and air and directing the sucked dust and air into the vacuum cleaner body, wherein said suction device comprises a handle, a detection device for determining the distance between said handle and the cleaner body and a controller which determines whether movement of the vacuum cleaner body is necessary, based on said distance between vacuum cleaner body and handle, wherein when movement of vacuum cleaner body is necessary, said controller controls said moving device.

EFFECT: if it is determined that an operation is required to bypass the obstacle during operation of the said moving device, the controller controls the moving device so as to ensure the vacuum cleaner body passage of an obstacle.
