FIELD: transportation.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to pipeline transport. Method for determining the volume of a mixture of liquids successively pumped through pipelines having different quality characteristics involves successive pumping of displaced and displacing liquids, selection of qualitative characteristics and their values, individually characterizing displaced and displacing liquids and determination of volume of mixture. Determination of boundaries of the mixture zone of serially pumped liquids is performed by fixing time for change of quality characteristics of pumped liquids determined by representative samples. Time for beginning change of selected value of qualitative characteristic is recorded – point t1, then stabilization time of values of quality characteristics, characteristic for displacement fluid – point t2. Volume of mixture is determined by formula V=π (D/2)2*L, where V is volume of mixture of fluids successively pumped via pipelines, m3; π=3.14; D is pipeline inner diameter at sampling point, m; L is the length of the mixed zone, m, wherein L=υ*Δt, where υ is fluid flow velocity, m/s; Δt is time delta, s, between fixed points t1 and t2 Δt=t2 – t1.

EFFECT: disclosed is a method of determining volume of a mixture of liquids successively pumped via pipelines.
