FIELD: measurement technology; soil science.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to construction soil science and is used in engineering-geological survey for construction on swelling soils, in particular for determination of soil swelling pressure. Method for determining pressure of swelling of soil involves soaking soil sample and applying pressure, holding applied pressure until stabilization of soil sample deformation and recording values of deformation of soil sample and operating pressure, wherein tests are carried out on one soil sample, and application of pressure is performed by microsteps equal to 12.5 kPa, at each occurrence of soil swelling deformation of 0.005 mm, until zero value of stabilized deformation of soil sample, wherein values of soil sample and active pressure deformation are recorded through each 0.005 mm of soil sample deformation, and soil swelling pressure is determined as the sum of all microsteps of pressure applied on soil sample, at which zero value of stabilized deformation of soil sample is achieved.
EFFECT: high accuracy and reliability of determining swelling pressure of soil, reduced labor costs and test time.
