SUBSTANCE: invention relates to automotive transmissions. Method of operating a vehicle drive comprises partial closure of a clutch of a torque converter in the case of receiving a request for opening of a clutch. At that, partial closure of the coupling of the hydraulic transformer is performed before the release of the disengagement coupling. Accelerating the engine, which rotation was stopped, to the speed corresponding to the speed of rotation of the driven part of the disengagement clutch. In the other embodiment, the disengagement coupling is opened when reception of the request for opening of the coupling only after partial closure of the coupling of the hydraulic transformer.
EFFECT: reduced fuel consumption.
