Method includes obtaining serial digital images of initial raw material in a certain area of conveyor, wherein two successive images are separated by a second time interval δt, which has shorter duration than first time interval Δt; for each of second time intervals δt is the distance of the movement of the raw material sub-volume movement during the second time interval δt in a certain conveyor zone by digital processing of two consecutive images associated with a second time interval δt; determining at least one transverse profile of the height of the sub feed of the feedstock; determining the initial feedstock density for the starting material sub-feed; and calculating the initial raw material weight unloaded into the metallurgical furnace by the conveyor during the first time interval Δt.
