FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: method for oxidation of powdery materials containing starch includes successive stages of mixing powdered material containing starch with aqueous solution of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2), adding to the thus obtained mixture of aqueous ammonia solution and reacting with said mixture; method may also include an additional step for drying said mixture to obtain a powdery material containing oxidised starch; method can preferably include the following steps: feeding a continuous stream of powdery material containing starch into a first reactor (R) comprising a cylindrical tubular housing (1) and rotor located in cylindrical tubular body, comprising shaft (8) with elements (9) protruding from rotor in radial direction and rotating at speed exceeding or equal to 50 rpm; feeding into said reactor also a continuous stream of aqueous solution of hydrogen peroxide - reaction of powdery material containing starch and hydrogen peroxide; discharge of continuous flow of wet powder from outlet (7) of first reactor and supply of said continuous flow to second reactor (R'), comprising cylindrical tubular housing (101) and a rotor disposed in the cylindrical tubular body, having shaft (108) with elements (109) protruding from the shaft in a radial direction, and rotating at a rate greater than or equal to 50 rpm; feeding into second reactor (R') also continuous flow of aqueous ammonia solution; release from outlet (107) of second reactor a continuous flow of wet powder containing oxidised starch; drying wet powder to moisture content less than or equal to 20 wt. %, resulting in powdered material containing oxidised starch.
EFFECT: invention relates to a method of oxidising material based on starch, in particular flour produced from cereals and starch.
