FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metal forming and can be used in various branches of machine building. Method of making segmented casings for ball containers includes installation of cylindrical billet inside detachable ring matrix, introduction of elastic medium into inner cavity of said billet and distribution of said billet by force, applying force to elastic medium to produce semi-finished product in form of spherical belt, from which spherical segments are cut out and calibrated. Preliminarily cylindrical billet is made of foil and is obtained by winding the tape in a spiral with overlapping of turns on each other, besides, beginning of internal and end of external coils is connected to adjacent turns of spiral by gluing, with their subsequent disconnection after distribution.
EFFECT: higher quality of items due to reduced thinning out and broader technological capabilities.
