METHOD OF PARALYTIC EQUINOVARUS FOOT DEFORMITY TREATMENT IN CHILDREN Russian patent published in 2020 - IPC A61B17/56

Abstract RU 2711146 C1

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to traumatology and orthopedics, and can be used for treating paralytic equinovarus foot deformity in children. Method involves separate transplantation of the distal parts of tendons of the soleus and posterior tibial muscles on the forefoot. That is ensured by transecting the plantar aponeurosis. Distal portion of the tendon of the posterior tibial muscle is moved on the dorsal surface of the foot, where the transosseous suture is fixed to base of 4th instep bone. Muscular and distal parts of tendons of a soleus and gastrocnemius muscles are separated. Distal portion of the gastrocnemius muscle tendon is elongated. Distal part of a soleus muscle tendon is sutured with a suture. Canal is formed in the interosseous membrane at an acute angle to the shin axis. Distal part of the tendons of a soleus muscle is introduced through the formed canal to the anterior surface of the shin, where it is sutured together with the distal parts of the tibialis anterior and previously displaced posterior tibial muscles. Foot is fixed with K-wires in the position of the achieved correction and is immobilized with a posterior gypsum-shaped splint.

EFFECT: method provides reduced traumatism and reduced length of treatment ensured by correcting muscular imbalance by displacing distal parts of posterior tibial and soleus muscles to posterior foot without interfering with bone structures of the foot.
