FIELD: instrument engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to instrument-making and can be used in systems for determining the distance of ground vehicles. Ground vehicle speed measuring device comprises a mechanical speed sensor (MSS) and a computing device, as well as an optoelectronic speed sensor (OESS), consisting of four rows of optoelectronic elements, a unit for identifying and searching for heterogeneities, a channel monitoring unit, a storage device and a speed determining unit. In process of vehicle motion, time of delay when light-sensitive elements of optoelectronic speed sensor receiving signals reflected from areas of road surface heterogeneities when illuminated with mini projector of moving object is measured. Measurement channels of the optoelectronic speed sensor consist of sets of optoelectronic sensitive elements. At the output of each measurement channel of the optoelectronic speed sensor there is a signal containing information on not one inhomogeneity, and on the region of heterogeneities. In case of successful passing of control for each of current used time of OESS measurement channels, unit for identification and search of heterogeneities transmits command for speed calculation to speed determination unit.
EFFECT: high accuracy and reliability of measuring the speed of a ground vehicle.
