FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for large-scale synthesis of potassium salt of 2-[2-(2-oxo-4-phenylpyrrolidin-1-yl)acetamido]ethane sulphonic acid. Method comprises the following stages: a) alkylation of 4-phenylpyrrolidinone-2 to obtain ethyl ester of 2-(2-oxo-4-phenylpyrrolidin-1-yl)acetic acid; b) hydrolysis of ethyl ether of 2-(2-oxo-4-phenylpyrrolidin-1-yl)acetic acid to obtain free acid; c) reacting 2-(2-oxo-4-phenylpyrrolidin-1-yl)acetic acid with N-hydroxysuccinimide to obtain N-hydroxysuccinimide ester of 2-(2-oxo-4-phenylpyrrolidin-1-yl)acetic acid; and d) reacting 2-(2-oxo-4-phenylpyrrolidin-1-yl)acetic acid N-hydroxysuccinimide ester with 2-aminoethanesulphonic acid and potassium hydroxide to obtain potassium salt 2-[2-(2-oxo-4-phenylpyrrolidine -1-yl)acetamido]ethanesulphonic acid.

EFFECT: disclosed method enables to carry out large-scale synthesis of the end product.
