FIELD: transportation.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to an automotive industry vehicle operator input system and method. Proposed system comprises door, door control module, starter drive and control subsystem. Door control module serves to open and close the door. Starter drive serves to start engine of vehicle. Control subsystem includes: a gesture sensor, a controller and an input sensor. Gesture sensor serves to detect gestures made by the operator. Controller is configured to respond to operator gestures to open door and start engine. Input sensor serves to detect an individual, operator or user entering the vehicle through an opening created when said door is open.
EFFECT: invention is achieved by providing a system for facilitating entry, opening and closing the door, which automatically starts the engine, to shorten the preparation time of the vehicle for the trip.
