FIELD: astronautics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the operation of solar batteries (SB) of a spacecraft. Method includes measurement of SB current at preset parameters of orbit and angular position of SB and spacecraft and comparison of SB current values measured at current and previous stages of flight. At the moment of spacecraft launching to the light part of the orbit, spacecraft accumulator batteries (AB) are discharged to minimum permissible level of charging. Current AB charging level is measured and compared to maximum permissible level. SB current is measured in the interval of time from the beginning of the light part of the orbit to the moment when the measured AB charge level reaches the maximum permissible value.
EFFECT: providing measurement of the total current generated by the SB in the SB efficiency monitoring session, by excluding non-controllable SB current losses, which are specific for the SB operation at maximum battery charging.
