FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of producing acrylic acid which includes bringing a stream of incoming materials containing lactic acid, lactic acid derivatives or mixtures thereof into contact with a molten salt catalyst in a reactor at a defined temperature; wherein said molten salt catalyst comprises an ionic liquid (IL) having a bromide (Br-) anion and phosphonium cation and representing [PBu4]Br, and an acid, where said acid is soluble in said IL and selected from a group consisting of Lewis acids, Bronsted acids; and wherein said bringing into contact in said reactor is carried out with acrylic acid; and wherein the molar ratio of said IL and said acid is 4.75; wherein said temperature is 220 °C; wherein said acrylic acid is obtained with output of at least 10 mol % and with selectivity of at least 50 mol %.
EFFECT: disclosed are methods of producing acrylic acid from lactic acid or derivatives thereof in liquid phase.
