FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of bioorganic chemistry and specifically to a method of producing urolithin D having hypoglycemic action. Method comprises mixing 2-bromo-4,5-dimethoxybenzoic acid with pyrogallol in molar ratio 1:(3–4) and potassium hydroxide solution in water in molar ratio 2-bromo-4,5-dimethoxybenzoic acid : hydroxide potassium 1:2, heated (40 min, 80 °C), adding 7 % solution of copper sulphate (weight ratio 2-bromo-4,5-dimethoxybenzoic acid : copper sulphate 6.19:1), heating (15 min, 80 °C), precipitate is filtered, washed and dried. Then glacial acetic acid and hydrobromic acid are added, heated (9 h, 80 °C), filtering the precipitate, filtering and drying, dissolving in ethanol in volume ratio of 1:2, filtering, cooled, mixed with silica gel in weight ratio of 1:2, applied on column with silica gel in weight ratio of 1:40, eluted with mixtures of hexane : ethyl acetate 8:2 (volume ratio), hexane : ethyl acetate 2:8 (volume ratio), concentrated in a vacuum, dissolved in ethyl acetate in volume ratio of 1:2, filtered, washed with ethanol and dried.

EFFECT: disclosed method increases output of urolithin D.
