FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of producing a rare phenol glucoside - 4-hydroxyacetophenone-4-O-β-D-glucopyranoside (picein), having antidiabetic, cytotoxic and antioxidant activity, from bearberry stalks by extracting plant material. The method includes preliminary ultrasonic extraction of crushed plant material with 50% ethyl alcohol in the ratio of material to extractant of 1:(7-10) for 30-40 minutes, further extraction of the plant material three times with the same extractant in the ratio of material to extractant of 1:(17-19) at 80-90°C for 1-1.5 hours, concentrating the combined extracts and consecutive liquid-phase extraction with ethyl acetate and n-butanol in ratio of 1:0.3 and 1:0.4, five times and three times, respectively. The obtained product is recrystallised from ethyl acetate, purified chromatographically on aluminium oxide and recrystallised from methanol.

EFFECT: invention simplifies the method of producing a highly pure samples of picein and increases output of the end product.
