SUBSTANCE: invention relates to dentistry. Disclosed is a method of predicting mechanical properties of dental materials on a polymer base based on scanning electron microscopy, which involves using a sample of a polymer material with a scanning electron microscope, wherein image is marked by grid on 15 equal rectangles, having 3 lines on horizontal and 5 on vertical, measuring particle size and distance between them, taking size of maximum chord in horizontal direction, calculating coefficient of evaluation of strength characteristics Kst=L/S, where L is average value of distance between particles, calculated in 15 squares, S is average value of particle size, calculated in 15 squares. If Kst<0.2, then the strength parameters of the material under compression will be >4,464.09 N, with a diametric rupture of 1,060.08 N, with bending of 22.71 N, an adhesion value of 122.51 N; if Kst lies in range of 0.2–1, then parameters will be 4,464.08–3,158.19 N, 1,060.07–918.32 N, 22.70–20.71 N, 122.50–60.15 N respectively; if Kst>1, parameters will be <3,158.18 N, 918.31 N, 20.70 N, 60.14 N respectively.

EFFECT: method enables assessing the physical and mechanical properties of polymer-based dental materials using small sample size of not more than 0,5 cm3, without resorting to laboratory measurements.
