FIELD: manufacturing technology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a valuable document with protective marking in the form of at least two luminescent substances, which are present in a given relative quantitative ratio relative to the total amount of luminescent substances and are jointly excited by an excitation pulse. Time characteristics of the intensities of the emitted radiations of the luminescent substances differ from each other, and at least one luminescent substance has a nonmonoexponential time characteristic of the intensity of emitted radiation. In method of identifying protective marking of valuable document, time characteristic of total intensity is detected, and approaching a linear combination of formula

wherein Ii(t) are time characteristics of intensities of radiation emitted by luminescent substances. Protective marking is determined based on linear coefficients ci.
EFFECT: valuable document with protective marking and method of identification of protective marking are proposed.
