SUBSTANCE: invention relates to communication. According to various embodiments of the present invention, a discontinuous reception (DRX) method and a device are disclosed. Method comprises: determining, by a terminal device, a first type of service transmitted between a terminal device and a network device; determination by the terminal device of the first duration in accordance with the first type of service; and determination of first duration by terminal device as duration of timer for DRX mode of first service type.
EFFECT: using the DRX method and the device according to the various embodiments of the present invention, the duration of the DRX mode timer may be flexibly set while reducing the non-productive consumption of signal information resources.
